The town is important today for the transformation of agricultural products, and the toponym indicates its control function over the Nure stream ford ( remains of a roman bridge piers are preserved). Furthermore , remains of a Roman site appeared in the 19th century in an eastern position with respect to the town and in other areas. In the Middleages it was an important military centre, defended by a fortress .
