The municipality took its name from the main ward, Cadeo, and its site is in Roveleto The etymology of the word is ''House of God'' - ''House of the Pilgrim'', in effect the village probably derives from an old 12th century pilgrim hospitium on the Via Romea. Also the castle, now become a farm, was built by the monks.The economy is based upon agriculture, cattle breeding and industry.
